Job Overview

Join our team as a Sales Associate at a roofing supply store, where you’ll be an important part of helping contractors, builders, homeowners, and other customers find the right roofing materials and supplies for their projects. In this fast-paced role, you’ll provide knowledgeable customer service, process sales and orders, maintain accurate inventory and transaction records, and help ensure customers receive the products they need efficiently and accurately.

The ideal candidate is dependable, friendly, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with customers, product quantities, pricing, and basic measurements. Experience with roofing, construction, building materials, or contractor sales is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.

Duties

• Greet contractors, homeowners, and other customers and determine their roofing material and supply needs.
• Recommend appropriate roofing products, materials, and accessories based on customer requirements and project specifications.
• Assist customers with selecting products such as shingles, underlayment, flashing, vents, drip edge, ridge caps, fasteners, sealants, and other roofing supplies.
• Prepare and process customer orders accurately, including verifying product quantities, sizes, colors, and pricing.
• Enter sales orders, customer information, invoices, and product information into the company’s POS or computer system.
• Process cash, credit card, and other customer payments accurately.
• Provide quotes and assist contractors with pricing, product availability, and order information.
• Answer customer questions regarding products, availability, delivery options, and general roofing supplies.
• Coordinate with warehouse and delivery personnel to ensure customer orders are pulled, loaded, and delivered accurately.
• Safely lift, carry, load, and move roofing materials and other building supplies, including heavier and bulky materials, as required.
• Assist with loading and unloading customer and delivery vehicles while following proper safety procedures.
• Maintain organized displays, sales areas, and product information.
• Help monitor inventory and communicate low-stock or backordered items to management.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and work to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Maintain accurate records and follow company procedures for sales, returns, credits, and cash handling.
• Work as part of a team to keep daily store operations running efficiently.

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail sales, contractor sales, building materials, roofing supply, or a related industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of roofing materials, construction products, or general building supplies is a strong plus.
• Experience working with contractors, construction crews, builders, or other trade professionals is helpful.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic math skills and the ability to accurately calculate quantities, measurements, pricing, and totals.
• Comfortable using computers, POS systems, email, and basic data-entry software.
• Ability to read product descriptions, invoices, order forms, and basic measurements.
• Strong attention to detail when entering customer orders and product quantities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
• Must be physically capable of lifting and moving roofing materials and supplies throughout the workday.
• Must be able to safely lift heavy and bulky materials, with or without assistance, and perform frequent loading and unloading.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• A valid driver's license may be required depending on store responsibilities.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
