Preschool Assistant & After-School Program Lead
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Hours: Preschool Assistant, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.; After-School Program Lead, 2:00–6:00 p.m.
Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool is seeking an energetic, dependable, and organized individual to support both our preschool and school-age programs.
During the morning, this employee will work as an Assistant Teacher in our 4-Year-Old classroom. In the afternoon, they will lead our After-School Program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children of different ages and have the creativity, leadership skills, and initiative needed to build an engaging school-age program.
Preschool Assistant Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in caring for and supervising children in the 4-Year-Old classroom
- Assist with classroom activities, learning centers, transitions, meals, and daily routines
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
- Encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and academic development
- Work cooperatively with teachers and administrative staff
- Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements
After-School Program Lead Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the After-School Program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade
- Safely drive the school bus for student pickup, field trips, and other program activities
- Create a safe, structured, positive, and engaging environment
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, STEM projects, homework time, and special events
- Develop weekly themes and activity plans
- Maintain accurate attendance and student records
- Communicate professionally and consistently with parents
- Supervise and provide direction to after-school staff
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and ensure proper classroom coverage
- Organize program materials and monitor supply needs
- Work collaboratively with preschool leadership and other staff members
- Help develop and strengthen the After-School Program
Summer Camp Responsibilities
- Plan and organize the school-age summer camp program
- Develop weekly camp themes, activities, and special events
- Research, schedule, and coordinate field trips and visiting programs
- Safely transport students to and from field trips and activities as needed
- Communicate camp schedules and information to families and staff
- Prepare supply lists and assist with ordering materials
- Coordinate transportation, permission forms, attendance, and other field-trip details
- Provide leadership and support to summer camp staff
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with preschool and/or school-age children
- Prior leadership, program planning, or childcare experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Creative, enthusiastic, dependable, and able to take initiative
- Ability to plan and lead activities for children of different ages and interests
- Ability to communicate professionally with children, families, coworkers, and administrators
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability and willingness to safely drive a school bus
- Ability to complete any required driver training
- Ability to meet all required background check, health, and training requirements
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors and participate actively in classroom and recreational activities

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
