Self-Pay Representative
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Pay Range: $17–$22/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Position Summary
A leading medical billing company in Oklahoma City is seeking a friendly, patient-focused Self-Pay Representative to join their team. This entry-level role focuses heavily on outbound and inbound patient calls to secure payments, answer billing questions, and provide clear, compassionate support. While experience in medical billing or prior use of billing systems is valued, the most important qualities for this role are strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and excellent phone etiquette.
Key Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to patients regarding outstanding self-pay balances and secure payment arrangements.
- Receive inbound calls and assist patients with billing questions, account details, and payment options.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Document all patient interactions and payment activity accurately in the billing system.
- Work closely with the billing team to resolve account discrepancies or patient concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Meet performance expectations related to call volume, customer service, and payment collection goals.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical billing, collections, customer service, or call center work is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication abilities with clear, professional phone etiquette.
- Friendly, patient, and comfortable speaking with people throughout the day.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive when assisting patients with sensitive financial matters.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as with a team.
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience with medical billing software or payment systems.
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology or billing processes.
