Precision Grinder
Location: North West Tulsa
Shift: Day Shift – Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay: $18–$25/hour depending on experience
Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Precision Grinder to operate multiple machines and equipment in our grind shop to prepare and finish customer parts. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow work instructions and blueprints are essential, especially when working to tight tolerances or high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Operate machines such as precision grinders, belt polishers, hydraulic press (straightener), lathe, mill, drill press, welding machines, precision honing machine, centerless grinder, and overhead cranes.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions accurately.
- Use and calibrate precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
- Perform visual and instrument inspections of completed work.
- Follow grinding and polishing procedures and understand how to achieve different finishes.
- Identify different thread types and perform related machining tasks.
- Complete daily production cards and log work in computer systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions:
- Move materials using forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Maintain and clean coolant tanks; add coolant as needed.
- Keep shop areas clean and follow 5S/Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Wear proper PPE and work safely for extended periods.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and train other employees.
- Cross-train and relocate within the department as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass pre-employment screening.
- Steady employment history preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with precision grinding and polishing.
- Ability to read and calibrate precision measuring devices.
- Own machinist hand tools.
Special Requirements:
- Basic machine shop schooling or equivalent experience.
- Precision instruments schooling or equivalent.
- Welding schooling or equivalent.
