What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environment, Health and Safety Manager position at Trinity Consultants Engineering & EHS Workforce Solutions?
The EHS Manager Manager will support the development of site SHE Safety & Security policy with annual and long- term plans in compliance with corporate requirements and relevant laws and regulations. You will achieve this by being the safety and security expert and working interdepartmentally with the management team to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
The Schenectady site is one of client's largest premix plants globally. This is for our 2 key business segments: Human Nutrition and Health Industry- Dietary Supplements and Food (Straight & Premix). The Schenectady site also includes production processes of dry blends, warehouse, Maintenance, Quality and other support functions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing site approach to managing combustible dust hazards, as they pertain to product handling, through technical guidance development, SOP development, field study, and training.
- Work closely with Facility Trainer to develop, organize, and conduct SHE & Security related training programs, including confined space, work permit, incident investigation, root cause, Lock out Tag out Try out, etc. Ensures all SHE & Security related training is current and up to date. Develop staff on all Life Saving Rules and Key Security Behaviors.
- Lead site process safety analysis studies and track site-wide progress on recommendations tracking. Participates in Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP), Chemical Hazard Assessment (CHA), and Machine Safety Assessment (MSA) teams. Knows the HAZOP, CHA and MSA processes. Involves related operations and prepares for approval by the local MOC. Ensures the specification meets the requirements and all possible (cost-efficient) solutions have been explored.
- Leads incident investigations and has the judgment to make the correct decision based on each situation. Leads participants through site Root Cause Failure Analysis methodology to arrive at sound causes and solutions to incidents. Analyses relevant process safety incidents on site. Defines follow up and lessons to be learned. Informs colleagues on other sites with similar potential risks.
- Demonstrates leadership in process safety, covering all aspects of the process safety life cycle on site. Creates the circumstances for managing process safety on site at the acceptable low residual risk level. Takes action to fill any relevant gap (systems, skills & training or behavior related). Steers improvement programs based on KPI’s and improvement proposals. Ensures the process safety life cycle is technically managed in a consistent way and in CAPEX projects. Coordinates the auditable trail for process safety scenarios including updating in case of (experience based) improvements. Perform basic SHE trainings on site. Support process safety tools on site (e.g. PS-Tools, PSN-Standards). Keeps informed on changes in requirements and guidelines and provides for implementation proposals consistent with local circumstances.

You bring:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a technical SHE discipline is required.
- 5 years in SHE-related functions.
- Professional certification in field highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of universally accepted Safety & Security practices as well as US OSHA regulations as they relate to the general industry.
- Cursory knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations is desired.
- Understands and able to read, write and comprehend environmental programs.
- Some manufacturing with SHE responsibilities preferred - focusing on process safety.
- CSP, CIH, CHP, CHMM or CRSP certification.
- Working knowledge of SHE regulations (29 CFR 1910, 40 CFR, 49 CFR, IATA and IMDG).
Salary : $100,000 - $135,000
