Trinity Consultants is seeking an Environmental professional to work on a project based basis onsite at a premier manufacturing client site in Virginia, part of the Greater Greensboro NC Region. This position is benefits eligible through the duration of the contract period.
Position Summary
The Environmental Specialist provides support to the Environment, Health and Safety team, with primary emphasis on environmental programs and compliance activities across the site.
Position details
The position will primarily support environmental activities related hazardous waste, wastewater, SPCC, stormwater, air permitting, sampling, documentation, data handling, and general compliance support. The successful candidate will work closely with environmental leads on site-specific environmental programs and requirements. While the primary focus of the role is environmental support, the candidate should also bring practical health and safety experience so they can assist the broader EHS team with routine safety-related tasks as needed. This role requires a proactive, dependable individual who is comfortable supporting both field and administrative activities.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Support
Support site environmental programs, including hazardous waste, wastewater, SPCC, stormwater, and air compliance activities.
Assist environmental leads with inspections, compliance calendars, action tracking, and general regulatory support activities.
Perform environmental sampling and support sample collection, storage, handling, shipment, and documentation.
Assist with environmental data collection, organization, and trending.
Maintain organized environmental files, permits, reports, inspection records, training records, and regulatory documentation.
Support sustainability efforts, including participation in Environmental activities and coordination of related initiatives where needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
3 or more years of experience in EHS, environmental compliance, health and safety, or regulated manufacturing.
Must have environmental permitting and compliance experience in the State of Virginia.
Strong interest in environmental compliance and willingness to learn site-specific environmental programs and regulatory requirements.
Title V air permitting and compliance experience highly preferred.
Practical health and safety experience, including exposure to safety programs, inspections, risk assessments, JHAs, permits, or corrective action follow-up.
General understanding of sample collection, storage, handling, shipment, and chain of custody documentation.
