The Irrigation & Drainage Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems and drainage solutions. Experience with outdoor landscape lighting is considered a plus but not required. This role helps ensure the health, safety, and appearance of residential and commercial landscapes by keeping all systems operating efficiently and in alignment with company standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience in irrigation installation and service required.
- Experience in outdoor lighting a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of drainage system installation and basic grading principles.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills for low-voltage lighting systems.
- Ability to read site plans, irrigation layouts, and drainage diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Irrigation:
- Perform routine system inspections to identify leaks, broken heads, coverage issues, and inefficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and repair components such as valves, solenoids, timers, and wiring.
- Adjust spray patterns and system settings to ensure optimal coverage and water conservation.
- Conduct seasonal start-ups, shutdowns, and general system optimizations.
Drainage:
- Install drainage systems such as French drains, catch basins, pumps, downspout tie-ins, and grading adjustments.
- Inspect existing drainage systems for blockages, failures, or improper flow.
- Perform repairs to ensure proper water movement and prevent landscape or property damage.
- Recommend improvements to enhance site drainage and reduce standing water.
Landscape Lighting:
- Conduct lighting inspections, including verifying transformer operation and ensuring all fixtures are functioning properly.
- Adjust lighting heads for correct aiming and coverage.
- Troubleshoot and repair lighting components including fixtures, wiring, transformers, and timers.
- Document issues and communicate repair needs promptly.
General Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, system updates in company software.
- Prepare proposals/estimates in company software to be viewed by the customer following company procedures including detailed description of repair and materials needed to complete the job.
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and managers about system performance and recommended repairs.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety procedures, and local codes.
- Uphold a professional appearance and attitude while representing the company.
