Summary Of Essential Job Functions
- Develop, update, and manage technical documentation such as:
- Manufacturing work instructions
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Customer-facing user guides and addenda
- Author and publish content within a structured content management environment using a content management system
- Ensure documentation complies with company standards for accuracy, consistency, and usability.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture technical details and ensure accuracy.
- Create illustrations, diagrams, and step-by-step procedures for gimbal system assembly and integration.
- Ensure documents comply with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry/regulatory standards (e.g., aerospace, defense, ITAR, ISO).
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract and verify technical content.
- Edit and standardize engineering reports, specifications, and test documentation for clarity and consistency.
- Support training initiatives by creating instructional materials and multimedia content for internal teams and external customers.
- Ensure documents are accessible to multiple audiences, including technicians, engineers, program managers, and customers.
- Maintain version control and documentation history in accordance with change management processes.
- Organize and maintain content libraries, templates, and documentation workflows.
- Identify and implement improvements to documentation processes and tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One year of experience as a technical writer or in a related documentation role.
- Familiarity with single-sourcing, topic-based authoring, and structured writing.
- Demonstrated experience with MadCap Flare or similar component content management systems (CCMS).
- Experience working with complex technical information. Knowledge of content lifecycle management and documentation best practices.
- Experience working in manufacturing, software, or technical service environments.
- Experience working independently and managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with XML, HTML/CSS, or version control systems (e.g., Git) preferred.
- Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment)
- Effective use of a laptop computer and mobile phone to exchange information.
