We are recruiting to fill a temporary position, up to 3 months (non-benefit eligible). Position is located onsite at our Hood River Oregon office.

Trillium designs and manufactures imaging solutions primarily for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) market. Trillium's stabilized camera systems are best-in-class for their size, weight and power, and Trillium's feature-rich user interface is clean and user-friendly. Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality documentation that supports the design, assembly, testing, and operation of electro-mechanical systems. This role translates complex engineering and manufacturing processes into clear, concise, and accessible content for technicians, engineers, customers, and compliance requirements. The Technical Writer collaborates with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and usable documentation.

Summary Of Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, update, and manage technical documentation such as:
  • Manufacturing work instructions
  • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Customer-facing user guides and addenda
  • Author and publish content within a structured content management environment using a content management system
  • Ensure documentation complies with company standards for accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture technical details and ensure accuracy.
  • Create illustrations, diagrams, and step-by-step procedures for gimbal system assembly and integration.
  • Ensure documents comply with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry/regulatory standards (e.g., aerospace, defense, ITAR, ISO).
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract and verify technical content.
  • Edit and standardize engineering reports, specifications, and test documentation for clarity and consistency.
  • Support training initiatives by creating instructional materials and multimedia content for internal teams and external customers.
  • Ensure documents are accessible to multiple audiences, including technicians, engineers, program managers, and customers.
  • Maintain version control and documentation history in accordance with change management processes.
  • Organize and maintain content libraries, templates, and documentation workflows.
  • Identify and implement improvements to documentation processes and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a technical writer or in a related documentation role.
  • Familiarity with single-sourcing, topic-based authoring, and structured writing.
  • Demonstrated experience with MadCap Flare or similar component content management systems (CCMS).
  • Experience working with complex technical information. Knowledge of content lifecycle management and documentation best practices.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, software, or technical service environments.
  • Experience working independently and managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with XML, HTML/CSS, or version control systems (e.g., Git) preferred.

Physical Demands Of Position

  • Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment)
  • Effective use of a laptop computer and mobile phone to exchange information.
