Summary:

Facility Maintenance Technician - Electrician (FMT-E) is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems for our institutional manufacturing and painting buildings/facilities. They perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and ensure our facility's power, lighting, electrical system, and control systems operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with electrical code standards. This role requires day-to-day coordination of building maintenance (reactive and preventive). The FMT-E works with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor in managing all outside contractors in support of the office operations, including maintaining records and contracts, managing project activities, and coordinating contractor work schedule. FMT-E responds when contacted for facility-related emergencies which may require evening and weekend work. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor provides facility specific recommendations/ advice as needed. The FMT-E should be professional, customer-focused and able to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and Facility Manager to conduct and coordinate Trident Maritime Systems - Hampton's facilities.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure that the company and its subcontractors are compliant with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Assists in the training managers, employees, and new hires in electrical safety practices and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and ensure our facility's power, lighting, electrical system, and control systems operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with electrical code standards
  • Adhere strictly to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety regulations, utilizing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and NFPA 70E protocols.
  • Provides insight and input for the review and/or revision of current electrical safety processes and program.
  • Assists in the execution and management of Environmental programs and requirements.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly facility electrical safety audits and surveillances, immediately addressing or reporting structural, electrical, or life-safety issues.
  • Assist in supply inventory, tracking and ordering necessary parts, tools, and maintenance materials as needed.
  • Monitor the work of external contractors and vendors, ensuring project quality and service-level agreement compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Ability to diagnose electrical issues using testing devices like multimeters, clamp-amps, and meggers, then repair or replace faulty components such as motors, switches, relays, plugs and outlets.
  • Ability to use various hand tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft products including moderate Excel capabilities.
  • General knowledge and understanding of OSHA 1910 Standard, NEC and NFPA 70E protocols.
  • Working knowledge of SDS sheets.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • 2-5 years of proven facility experience in commercial or industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces or outdoors; must be physically capable of standing, bending, and lifting equipment.
  • A thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures along with a skill set that includes basic proficiency in some or all of the following: plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical/mechanical systems.


Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • High School diploma or GED. Completion of a electrical apprenticeship or technical trade school program.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment.
  • Hazwoper Certificate (desired but not required)
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Training (desired but not required)
  • OSHA 10 Certification (desired but not required)
  • Valid First Aid and/or AED certification (desired but not required)
