Job Title: Principal Business Analyst
Location: Broadway, New York-Hybrid (2 to 3 days)
Pay rate: $60/hr on W2
Type of Hire: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Description:
Project will have both upgrade and migration to cloud and Global Trade Management system Big lift on the upgrade – international finance and customs compliance group will need enhancements One work stream will hand hold that Other team that will be responsible for terms – who pays for what, etc. – focus will be on the costs and the downstream integration with third parties (banks, vendors, etc.)
Duties/Day to Day Overview
• Leading a cohesive team of internal and external technical staff, and of key users in the execution of new Merchandising projects by:
o Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT leadership, translating high-level business strategy into actionable technical solutions.
o Championing change management initiatives, ensuring user adoption and engagement with new systems or processes.
• Leading efforts in the support of existing systems, processes, services and/or in the execution of new projects, ensuring that:
o Use cases and requirements are accurately captured
o Work with vendors to create wireframes and review with the business to ensure solution fits our needs.
o Detailed functional designs are created and handed off to Development Team
o Test and training plans are designed and executed successfully
o Communication to project managers and leadership is accurate/detailed and projects are completed on time and under budget
• Taking a leadership role in exploring and analyzing new processes, services, and application functions and technologies to:
o Gather detailed business requirements by facilitating workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings and translating them into effective solutions.
o Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring mutual understanding across departments.
o Build and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, including IT, merchandising, support, and other stakeholders.
• Ownership of functional area; responsible for managing and optimizing the product backlog for merchandising or planning systems
o Supporting existing production systems
o Defining and prioritizing system problems and enhancement requests; analyzing to identify and address root causes
o Coordinating related support and development activities (whether they be internal or external)
o Support testing processes fixes and/or enhancements
o Assess application issues to identify root causes
Top Requirements
(Must haves)
- Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 -5 years of experience supporting IT systems, processes, or capabilities. Solid understanding of IT processes and dynamics within a complex, highly integrated environment
- A solid understanding of industry best practices in retail or IT; specific demonstrated experience mapping business processes and comparing those processes to industry best practices
- Strong problem solving, and root cause analysis skills
- Experience working with engineers and developers preferred
- Understanding of application development and software development lifecycle concepts
- Use Case and User Story Development
- Experience with Agile (Scrum and SAFe Framework) and Waterfall approaches preferred
- Experience working with Wireframing tools preferred
- Ability to work with business to understand processes and document requirements
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with ERP or merchandising systems (e.g., Oracle Retail, SAP, Blue Yonder) and integration with planning and forecasting tools.
- Understanding of Import Logistics and Tariff law a plus
- Light project management
