Reports to: Manager, Estimating & Engineering
Job SummaryThe Estimator plays a key role in supporting Tricon’s engineered piping projects by preparing accurate, well-organized cost estimates from construction drawings and specifications. This position works closely with the Estimating & Engineering team, sales, and operations to translate project requirements into competitive and executable bids.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to build technical and commercial expertise in engineered systems serving district energy, healthcare, industrial, and data center markets. The role provides hands-on exposure to construction documents, engineered products, and real-world project economics in a growing manufacturing organization.Key Responsibilities Estimating & Bid Support
· Review construction drawings, specifications, and customer-provided take-offs.
· Perform quantity take-offs for piping systems, insulation, and related materials.
· Request and coordinate vendor pricing for materials and outsourced services.
· Assist in preparing cost summaries, pricing worksheets, and bid documentation.
· Document scope assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions for review by the Manager.
· Support timely bid submissions aligned with company margin and risk guidelines.
Technical & Project Interpretation
· Develop working knowledge of Tricon’s piping systems, materials, insulation types, and jointing methods.
· Identify discrepancies or missing information in drawings and escalate questions appropriately.
· Assist in preparing submittal documentation and technical information for customer or engineer review.
· Learn how engineered system design decisions impact fabrication, logistics, and installation costs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with operations and procurement to confirm material pricing and fabrication assumptions.
· Support clear handoff documentation from estimating to production upon project award.
· Participate in internal pre-bid discussions to understand project risks and opportunities.
Continuous Learning & Development
· Build proficiency in estimating software and internal cost databases.
· Contribute to maintaining accurate historical cost data.
· Participate in technical training and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications Education & Experience
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred.
· 1–3 years of experience in estimating, construction, manufacturing, or mechanical systems preferred.
· Relevant internship or co-op experience will be considered.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical & Professional Skills
· Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and specifications.
· Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Pay Rate: Based on Experience: Starting $24.00 / Hr.
