What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at TriBeCa Community School?
TriBeCa Community School, a preschool in Downtown Manhattan, seeks a classroom teacher for the 2026-2027 school year (3s or 4s/5s). The daily schedule for teachers is 8:00am-3pm, 5 days/week. Teachers work on a collaborative team of 3 teachers.
We are seeking creative, team-oriented teachers who
- See themselves as learners and researchers alongside children.
- Are careful observers and listeners of children.
- Will create positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing an inquiry-based curriculum, guided by theories of constructivism and social constructivism.
- Documenting the process and elevate the visibility of children’s ideas and theories
- Communicating with families daily regarding the classroom work and learning
- Conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year
- Conducting curriculum night / parent workshop events twice per year
- Engaging thoughtfully and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
- Reflecting on own teaching practice; developing and working toward goals.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience as a classroom teacher
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Skilled in Mac programs, video, photography and editing programs, or willingness to learn.
- Available 8-3, M-F, late August-late June
