Job Overview: Manages the staff and functions of custodial services. Ensures the cleanliness of the property to provide a sanitary and safe environment. Develops and implements cleanliness, safety, and guest service standards.

Create Lasting Change: The Impact You’ll Have:

  • Directs the day-to-day cleaning operations of the SMSC Government Center, Hocokata Ti (Cultural Center), Education Center, Tiowakan Spiritual Center, Medical Clinics, Parks Pavilions, and Public Works Building.
  • This includes additional cleaning needs for special events/shows, construction projects, emergencies, and guests.  Develops and implements safety and service standards and cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  • Research cleaning practices, procedures, and products and implements as applicable to improve effectiveness. Analyzes department performance as documented through received reports, comment cards, and feedback from the public and addresses issues or makes revisions to service standards as necessary. 
  • Ensures compliance with safety and cleaning standards as well as ensuring guest service standards are being kept.  Ensures a clean and safe environment is being maintained for all team members, customers, and children and all staff are following OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Must know and understand MDSD information. Ensures that all chemicals and equipment are kept out of reach of children, customer, team members, etc.  Communicates effectively with customers, children, and employees, keeping high quality customer service and confidentiality as the primary consideration. 
  • Oversees the scheduling of tasks and assignments, monitoring performance, and inspecting completed work for conformance to established standards. 
  • Manages the department’s equipment and supplies inventory. Monitors supplies and equipment usage and manages equipment repairs.  Directs the department purchase order system and bidding of supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Develops standards, bids, and capital expenses in conjunction with Purchasing. 
  • Recruits, interviews, selects, hires, and promotes employees, including training and development. Completes performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and terminations.  Leads, mentors, coaches, provides guidance support and motivation to their direct reports. 
  • Works with Surveillance, Security, and Safety departments to ensure safety and asset protection of guests and company property. 
  • Manages the department database maintenance program. 

Job Requirements: 

  • High school graduate or GED.   
  • 3 years of management experience in building or custodial maintenance in a large institutional setting, or an equivalent combination of 3 years relevant education and experience. 
  • 2 years of indirect or 1 year of direct people leadership experience.  Working experience in the development and review of departmental and operational budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, fire and general industry regulations, including safety, Hazardous Material Communications (HAZCOM), and blood borne pathogens. 
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and electronic mail software. 
  • Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
  • Available to work on weekends if needed for scheduled events such as weddings or events such as funerals that happen with short notice.
