Our well-established and growing manufacturing client is seeking a dynamic Quality & Metrology Engineer to join a fast-paced team. In this hands-on leadership role, you will champion quality assurance and precision metrology, ensuring all products align perfectly with internal and customer specifications.
You will serve as a key technical resource and cultural role model, collaborating closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to eliminate defects, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strict regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Mastery: Program, set up, and operate advanced metrology equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Vision Measurement Systems.
- Standardization & Training: Establish robust measurement methodologies, draft detailed inspection work instructions, and train inspectors on Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and quality requirements.
- Statistical Analysis: Schedule and execute Measurement System Analysis (MSA)—including Gage R&R and Bias studies—while creating and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) software inspections.
- Process Optimization: Develop and analyze production data using statistical sampling plans (e.g., ANSI Z1.4) to identify root causes of defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and product development teams to provide metrology insights, assist with validation plans, and align with external customers on product specifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or a related field), OR 5 years of dedicated experience in a Metrologist role.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); highly skilled with optical and mechanical measurement tools.
- Industry Knowledge: Working knowledge of plastics injection molding and metal manufacturing.
- Regulated Environments: Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820 regulations; medical device manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
- Software Systems: Experience navigating ERP software (IQMS preferred).
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) is a strong plus.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
