Tri-Zone Automation is a leading design-build technology and electrical integration firm specializing in Audio, Video, Networking, Smart Home Automation, Lighting Control, and Electrical Contracting for luxury residential and select commercial projects. We partner with the region’s top builders, architects, and homeowners to deliver seamless, design-forward technology solutions that elevate how people live, work, and entertain.

We’re seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Lead Audio Visual Technician to oversee and execute Tri-Zone’s residential and commercial AV installations.
This individual will be responsible for managing on-site system implementation, leading technical teams, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of AV and automation technologies, thrives in fast-paced environments, and takes pride in delivering exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities

System Installation & Integration

  • Lead the installation and configuration of AV systems including Control4, Lutron, Sonos, surveillance, networking, and home theater components.
  • Ensure all devices are properly mounted, connected, programmed, and tested to meet design specifications.
  • Interpret and execute from construction documents, wiring schematics, and AV design plans.
  • Oversee rack building, wire management, and structured cabling best practices.

Project Leadership

  • Serve as the on-site technical lead, coordinating tasks across technicians and subcontractors.
  • Conduct pre-wire walkthroughs, rough-ins, trims, and final installations in coordination with project managers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges to keep projects on schedule.

Client Interaction & Support

  • Conduct system orientations and basic training for homeowners and end users.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and knowledgeable service during installations and service calls.
  • Collaborate with sales and design teams to clarify scope and address site-specific needs.
  • Support service and troubleshooting efforts post-installation as needed.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Perform system tests and quality checks to verify performance and reliability.
  • Document system configurations, equipment serials, and as-built notes in coordination with operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Tri-Zone standards, building codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and job materials.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience installing and servicing AV, automation, and low-voltage systems (3 years preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of Control4, Lutron, Sonos, IP networking, video distribution, and structured cabling.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct junior technicians in the field.
  • Familiarity with D-Tools, Bluebeam, or project management platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and technical schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills with clients and coworkers.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the region.
