TRI-VALLEY REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM (TVROP)
Job Summary
General Description: Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (TVROP) is looking for a talented, high school Automotive Specialist instructor, who is ready to use their industry experience to shape our next-generation workforce. TVROP serves the Dublin, Livermore Valley Joint, and Pleasanton Unified School Districts, providing high school students with high-quality programs focused on ensuring students are able to earn a career by choice, not by chance. Our local business, industry, and college partnerships help instructors engage students in application-based learning to connect students beyond the walls of the classroom.
Additional Responsibilities:
The instructor will:
- Possess a valid California driver's license.
- Have a strong interest in teaching high school students who are seeking a career in the Automotive Maintenance and Service industry.
- Have the ability to teach beginning, intermediate and advanced automotive skills in an automotive shop environment.
- Collaborate with the Autobody and Collision Repair instructor to provide integrated, hands-on projects.
- Oversee and administer Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) tests and certifications.
- Work with the TVROP district office to maintain the appropriate paperwork required to receive donations, including tools, supplies, and properly registered vehicles.
CTE INSTRUCTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Function:
To manage the learning environment of students enrolled in high school Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Board of Trustees and in compliance with California laws; to maintain standards of expected student progress; to maintain a learning environment which permits discourse, study, and reflection designed to produce expected student outcomes; and to perform assigned duties related to the general welfare of the students, school, and program.
Supervision: Reports to the Superintendent or designee
Requirements Necessary to Perform Typical Duties:
Valid California Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential, authorizing instruction in the identified industry sector.
Minimum Qualifications: Education and/or Training:
To qualify for a CTE credential, the minimum requirement is verification by previous employers of three years (part-time or full-time) of paid or non-paid work experience directly related to the industry-specific credential or 48-semester units (or the equivalent) of postsecondary vocational training related to the subject named on the credential. One year of work experience may be earned by one year of general education teaching experience or 24-semester units of postsecondary vocational training. Completion of any of the alternative ways to meet the work experience in the past five years, or two years within the past ten years, will also satisfy the recency requirement for the CTE teaching credential.

- Ability to work well and collaboratively with a wide range of academic staff at both the district and high school level; adapt easily to industry, educational and organizational changes.
- Ability to manage curriculum and classroom environment following the educational standards of TVROP policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement federal, state, and Department of Education requirements and standards for academic and career education.
Job Responsibilities - Across All Sectors:
- Instructs high school students in the core area in preparation for entry-level employment or to attend a college with advanced standing in the sector-specific field.
- Maintains a responsible, job-related environment for individual and group instruction.
- Refines curriculum based on recommendations from a career technical advisory committee composed of representatives from business and industry.
- Models and teaches positive guidance and classroom management techniques.
- Provides activities, projects, and other materials that replicate the needs and requirements found in related employment fields. Activities include work-based learning, mock interviews, guest speakers, mentorships, field trips, Community Classroom, and/or Cooperative Vocational Education.
- Works cooperatively with ROP, high school, and community college faculty to align career pathways to obtain college credits and/or industry certifications.
- Maintains records of attendance, grades, competency level(s), and work-based learning activities for each student including follow-up reports.
- Participates in staff development activities, workshops, and seminars.
- Works effectively to secure enrollment (speaking and hosting informational meetings).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Comments and Other Information
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time to full-time possibility. We would entertain a job share arrangement.
LOCATION: To be determined, at one or more Tri-Valley High School Sites.
START DATE: August 2026; Specific day to be determined based on member districts' instructional calendars (plus ROP Staff In-Service date TBD)
BENEFITS: Dental required at employee expense. Vision, Life Insurance, and additional benefits are available at employee expense. In-Lieu of Benefit Stipend $6,000, by FTE. Upon hire, fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice for Tri-Valley ROP and evidence of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test will be required.
