General Description: Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (TVROP) is looking for a talented English & AVID Teacher to serve students in the Middle College Program at Las Positas College. This position combines high school English Language Arts instruction with the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elective course on a college campus, supporting motivated students pursuing higher education. This position requires an applicant with a strong interest in teaching high school students in a college-going environment, knowledge of AVID WICOR strategies, and the ability to individualize course content and instructional techniques to meet a variety of student needs and learning styles. TVROP serves the Dublin, Livermore Valley Joint, and Pleasanton Unified School Districts, providing high school students with high-quality programs focused on ensuring students are able to earn a career by choice, not by chance. Job Responsibilities: See Job Description: Additional Responsibilities: The instructor will: • Have reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license. • Teach the AVID Elective course with fidelity to the AVID model and implement WICOR strategies across all instruction. • Monitor students’ academic progress across all courses to provide targeted support. • Coordinate and support college-access activities, including field trips, college applications, and guest speakers. • Participate in Middle College team meetings, AVID Summer Institute training, and staff development activities. • Work with local student leadership organizations to promote college-going identity and student leadership. • Support program outreach by speaking at and hosting informational meetings to secure enrollment.
