What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Mill/Lathe Setup and Programming Specialist position at Tri Tool Technologies Inc.?
Shape precision parts on state-of-the-art equipment
Join us as a CNC Machining expert who moves seamlessly between CNC mills and CNC lathes—setting up, proving out programs, and running complex parts to spec. Lead CNC Machinist position also available.
Perks from day one: Opportunity for Overtime and a $1000 sign-on bonus.
A day on the swing shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)
You begin by reviewing blueprints with GD&T, staging tooling, and confirming offsets. You prove programs, load materials, and kick off the first runs on VTL, Mazak, and BTH machines. During cycles, you blend and deburr, verify critical dimensions, and fine-tune tooling wear. You monitor coolant and oil levels, proactively troubleshoot any performance dips, and keep production flowing. When something needs attention, you order and replace parts for equipment repairs. Throughout, you uphold Tri Tool’s core values and safety standards while collaborating closely with supervisors, programmers, and teammates.
What you will do
- Own setup-to-production on assigned CNC mills and lathes, ensuring parts meet print and tolerance requirements.
- Operate VTL, Mazak, and BTH machining centers using blueprints and a solid understanding of GD&T relationships.
- Load tooling, measure tool length offsets, assemble job-specific tooling boxes, and design and produce fixturing for upcoming work.
- Inspect in-process and finished parts for accuracy; identify flaws or concerns and correct promptly.
- Communicate workholding and programming feedback to the supervisor and machine programmer.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components per job plan.
- Blend and deburr parts during machine cycles to maintain flow.
- Monitor tooling condition, adjust parameters, and replace as needed.
- Proactively track machine performance, troubleshoot errors or low output, and maintain proper coolant and oil levels.
- Program and edit in Mazatrol, Fanuc, and G-code.
- Maintain a safe, compliant work area and follow State, Federal, and Company safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and managers to keep production efficient.
- Pitch in on related tasks and help keep the department organized and safe.
- Collaborate as a team member to meet goals and cross-train across departments when needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience or technical training in manufacturing.
- Minimum 7 years covering full machining operations: blueprint reading, inspection/measurement, and use of lifting devices.
- At least 7 years operating VTL, Mazak, and BTH equipment.
- 7 years programming and operating Fanuc and Mazatrol controls.
- Strong math skills, blueprint fluency, and clear written/verbal communication.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Consistently organized and safety-minded while hitting deadlines.
- Must be willing to work the swing shift hours of 3:00pm - 11:30pm
- FOR LEAD CNC Machinist: 2 years experience effectively managing a team.
