Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Shop Supervisor to lead our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations in the machine shop, ensuring high-quality production, safety compliance, and efficient workflow. This role requires strong technical knowledge in machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes, along with leadership skills to manage a team of skilled technicians and operators. The Machine Shop Supervisor will play a critical role in maintaining precision standards and optimizing manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of machinists, technicians, and fabrication staff to meet production goals.
- Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, and other machining equipment.
- Ensure all work adheres to blueprint specifications, GD&T standards, and quality control procedures.
- Review and interpret technical drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD software; assist with CNC programming and CAM programming as needed.
- Manage tooling selection, setup procedures, and calibration of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA standards; conduct safety training sessions for team members.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel for material handling using forklifts and other power tools; oversee inventory of tooling and fabrication supplies.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure machining accuracy, surface finish quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members on machining techniques, welding (including MIG welding), fabrication processes, and use of hand tools.
Experience
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive knowledge of machining operations including CNC programming (CNC milling machine, CNC lathe), welding (MIG welding), fabrication, and tooling.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, CAM programming, and mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), press brake machines, power tools, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments.
- Experience supervising or leading a team within a machine shop or manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies and warehouse operations is advantageous.
- Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations related to machining processes.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications related to quality control standards in manufacturing environments. Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
