What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer position at Tri-Tech Associates, Inc.?
Organizational Role: Responsible to lead and oversee engineering design and analysis efforts for MEP building systems as necessary for various projects. This includes project research, code analysis, calculations, implementation of design into project deliverable(s), and construction administration support.
Key Result Areas
Lead and Oversee Project Engineering Design
What success looks like: Design projects are completed on time with appropriate clarity and technical precision in accordance with the client scope, local AHJ requirements, and Tri-Tech standards. Research and calculations are thorough, accurate, and well-documented. Designs are well coordinated with internal and external team members (no conflicts). Client comments, AHJ review comments, RFIs, and contractor change orders as a result of design errors will be minimal.
What it will require:
· A clear understanding of project goals, deliverables, schedules, and contract obligations.
· Knowledge of local building codes and AHJ requirements.
· QA/QC all plans, reports, calculations, etc. and sign/seal drawings (as required).
· Evaluate constructability and cost/value to ensure design satisfies client requirements.
· Frequent and clear communication with team members (internal and external) and client.
· Effective management of time to complete project on schedule and under budget
Provide Oversight and Mentoring
What success looks like: Junior engineers and designers receive clear direction regarding tasks in support of the project deliverables. Oversight and training is provided through their task completion as they are challenged to grow in their industry knowledge and experience.
What it will require:
· Frequent and clear communication as direction is given and tasks are assigned through Concept::Approach::Layout::Detail workflow
· Willingness to provide opportunities to teach and train
· Ability to accurately backcheck completed tasks and provide corrections and feedback regarding accuracy, completion, and time spent on tasks
Support Business Operations
What success looks like: Operations Manager is supported with various technical and management duties as necessary to complete their tasks.
What it will require:
· Providing technical evaluation and feedback regarding scope and schedule for proposals
· Tracking of project and task percentage completion (both individually and for an overall project) to assist in workflow projections and management of project budgets
· Controlling scope creep by identifying out-of-scope requests and providing supporting documentation as necessary so scope revision requests can be made
