Tri State Commercial Realty is a national real estate advisory and brokerage firm headquartered in Manhattan with an office in Brooklyn, specializing in commercial leasing and investment sales throughout all five boroughs of New York City.

 

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Accounting Manager / Bookkeeper to support our growing team of real estate professionals. The ideal candidate is proactive, efficient, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

 

The Accountant / Accounting Manager will oversee the company’s accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage day-to-day bookkeeping, and collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting experience who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

We are looking for a highly experienced, confident, detail-oriented, and assertive bookkeeping professional to take ownership of accounting operations and actively and aggressively manage collections to help maintain strong and predictable cash flow across our real estate brokerage.

 

This is NOT a passive bookkeeping role. We are seeking someone proactive, organized, and comfortable following up consistently on outstanding invoices and commissions to keep transactions moving forward efficiently.

 

Position Details

 

Full-Time, In-Office Position: Manhattan/Brooklyn

 

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

 

Friday: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts.

Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial performance metrics.

Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial policies, and GAAP standards.

Assist with audits and liaise with external accountants or auditors.

Develop and implement accounting processes and internal controls.

Support management in strategic financial planning and decision-making.

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).3 years of accounting experience; 1–2 years in a managerial or supervisory role preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel)

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Proactive and efficient in collecting

Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a fast-paced real estate brokerage

Oversee accounts receivable tracking and collections

Follow up with agents, attorneys, clients, and counterparties regarding outstanding commissions and invoices

Reconcile brokerage commissions and agent splits

Monitor escrow and commission pipelines

Prepare weekly and monthly cash-flow reports

Maintain clean and accurate financial records

Identify risks to cash flow and resolve issues early

Improve internal accounting systems and workflows where needed

Additional Qualifications:

 

5 years bookkeeping or accounting experience

Strong accounts receivable and collections background

Experience working with real estate brokerages, property managers, title companies, or similar transaction-driven environments preferred

Strong organizational discipline and attention to detail

Professional but persistent communication style

Ability to manage multiple active transactions simultaneously

High integrity and reliability

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping financial systems tight, invoices paid on time, and operations running smoothly. You will work closely with leadership and play a key role in maintaining the firm’s financial stability and growth.
