Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Department Head for Internal Partnerships, this English Instructor will also collaborate with other academic divisions to design, revise, and enhance the curriculum of courses that support Tri-County’s two year degree, diploma, and certificate programs. The instructor will engage with two year programs and actively participate in their growth and enhancement. The instructor will contribute to the development of certificate programs and establish new internal partnerships for the English faculty and curriculum, aligning with our commitment to excellence in education.
Job Duties Include (but are not limited to):
Teach assigned courses using systematically planned and delivered instruction for the program. Review, evaluate, and revise on a continuing basis course objectives, instructional materials, and course syllabi. Design new courses as needed. Insure compliance with all accrediting guidelines. Serve as academic advisor to students and participate in student recruitment and development. Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate level of achievement and assign grades for the program. Participate in professional development activities to improve teaching competence and to stay current in teaching field; serve on College committees and participate in recruiting and marketing activities. Other duties as required by the Associate of Arts Department Head.
The successful candidate will be required to start at the beginning of the Fall 2026. First day of classes are 8/17/2026. The successful candidate will be required to teach face-to-face and or online instruction at one of our Tri-County Technical College campuses in the Upstate of South Carolina. May be required at any of our Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens' campuses, including dual enrollment off-site. Position may also include teaching online or hybrid classes although the position will be primarily housed at the Pendleton Campus.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Master's degree in English or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in a community college; successful experience using a variety of active and collaborative learning strategies; experience implementing innovative assessments to measure student learning; and a demonstrated track record showing regular professional development around their teaching and the discipline.
