What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN Part-time School Year position at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School?
The Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care and health services to students. Working under the direction of the Assistant Principal for Student Life and in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations, the LPN assists in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment that supports student learning and well-being.
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11:00 a.m. β 5:00 p.m. (18 hours per week)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide direct nursing care to students for illness, injury, and chronic health conditions under the supervision of the Assistant Principal for Student Life.
* Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare providers and in accordance with school policies and state regulations.
* Monitor and care for students with chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders, allergies, and other health needs.
* Respond promptly to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
* Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
* Assist with health screenings.
* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, healthcare providers, school administrators, faculty, and support staff regarding student health concerns.
* Assist with the implementation of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and accommodations for students with medical needs.
* Support health education initiatives and promote healthy behaviors among students.
* Maintain inventory and proper storage of medications and medical supplies.
* Ensure the health office is organized, clean, and prepared to respond to routine and emergency situations.
* Participate in emergency preparedness activities and assist in implementing school emergency response protocols.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal for Student Life or school administration.
