Safety Representative
Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC)
POSITION PURPOSE
Supports the VP of Human Resources & Safety in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety across all TCEC operations. Assists with safety compliance, training initiatives, incident investigations, regulatory adherence, and field safety observations to ensure alignment with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and operational best practices. Works collaboratively with operations and support departments to strengthen safety awareness, reduce operational risk, and support employee well-being.
JOB DIMENSIONS
Internal Responsibility Partners with Operations, Engineering, System Operations, Human Resources, and other departments to support safe work practices, training efforts, regulatory compliance, and incident prevention. Assists employees and leadership with safety-related guidance, documentation, and field support.
External Responsibility Coordinates with external vendors, contractors, training providers, and regulatory agencies as needed to support compliance requirements, reporting obligations, and safety initiatives. Supports positive member and public interactions through professional representation of TCEC safety standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Models the TCEC Essential Attributes as a regular pattern of behavior and self-awareness. Inspires others to do the same.
- Provides technical safety and health support to operations and corporate personnel under the direction of the VP of Human Resources & Safety.
- Assists with maintaining and updating written safety programs, procedures, and policies.
- Supports the development, coordination, and facilitation of company safety training programs including CPR, first aid, Smith Driving, hazard recognition, and other required safety initiatives.
- Conducts field observations, facility inspections, and worksite evaluations to promote compliance with safe work practices and regulatory standards.
- Assists with incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and helps recommend corrective actions and follow-up measures.
- Monitors and maintains safety-related records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Promotes and supports compliance with company safety programs, policies, procedures, and safe work practices across all operations.
- Assists in monitoring workers' compensation claims, injury trends, and safety performance metrics.
- Maintains awareness of industry safety standards, regulatory updates, and best practices while supporting operational safety initiatives and employee development programs related to safety and compliance.
- Promotes safety awareness through communication, training, coaching, and positive employee engagement
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Associate degree in business administration, occupational safety, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant utility or safety experience may be considered. Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility operations, safety, or related field preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License.
Operational / Functional Experience Experience supporting or coordinating utility safety programs, field operations, or regulatory compliance efforts. Familiarity with OSHA standards, incident investigations, training coordination, and safe work practices within electric utility operations is preferred. Experience conducting field observations, inspections, and safety-related documentation is beneficial
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, leadership, contractors, and external agencies. Demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety practices, Microsoft Office applications, and company software systems preferred.
