JOB TITLE: Summer Camp Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and site management of summer camp programming, including administrative responsibilities, staff supervision and scheduling, community engagement, and participant recruitment. This position ensures that summer camp operations are conducted safely, effectively, and in compliance with New Jersey state summer camp licensing requirements, organizational policies, and program goals.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Set the culture, direction, and expectations for summer camp programming
- Coordinate and oversee daily camp schedules, activities, and operations
- Supervise, support, and schedule summer camp staff and mentors
- Assist with staff onboarding, training, and performance support
- Ensure summer camp programming operates in compliance with New Jersey state summer camp licensing requirements, including health, safety, supervision, staffing ratios, and documentation standards
- Attend required trainings and professional development activities
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, families, and community partners
- Ensure consistent communication and coordination between staff and community stakeholders
- Monitor participant attendance and maintain accurate documentation and records
- Identify participant needs and coordinate referrals to appropriate internal or external resources as needed
- Educate and involve parents, guardians, or family members in programming when appropriate
- Collaborate with external agencies and partners to support programming and access to resources
- Maintain neat, organized program files, workspaces, and camp environments
- Participate in weekly supervision and staff meetings
- Assist with outreach, recruitment, and enrollment efforts
- Perform other related duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising staff or coordinating youth programming
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Seasonal
