A day in this role
You begin by reviewing drawings for a stainless steel plate-and-pipe repair. After selecting the right consumables, you prep surfaces—removing rust, dirt, grease, and debris—then set up your TIG or MIG equipment and verify torch condition and machine settings. You cut, measure, and tack components from plate, angle, and flat bar, complete clean welds, and confirm the work meets structural and specification requirements. Throughout the day, you keep a tidy, organized work area and follow safety protocols while maintaining the tools that keep you productive.
Core responsibilities
- Join and repair metal components, including stainless steel plate and pipe, using TIG and MIG processes.
- Fabricate parts from plate, angle, and flat bar: cut, measure, tack, and perform acceptable welds.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan and execute work.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, torches, and related tools.
- Clean and prepare metal surfaces by removing contaminants and debris.
- Inspect welds for quality, structural integrity, and compliance with specifications.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized environment.
What you bring
- 5 years of TIG welding experience (required); MIG welding experience also required.
- Proficiency with TIG and MIG welding techniques.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
