Special Needs Aide – Daycare / Childcare Setting
Trenton Learning Academy is hiring a Special Needs Aide to work with children of all abilities, including children who may need extra behavioral, emotional, or developmental support.
We are looking for a patient, dependable, and caring individual who has experience working with children with special needs, behavioral challenges, and different learning abilities. This position requires someone who can stay calm, follow directions, support classroom teachers, and help create a safe and positive environment for all children.
Position: Special Needs Aide
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Daycare / Childcare Center
Responsibilities include:
- Working one-on-one or in small groups with children who need additional support
- Assisting children with daily routines, transitions, classroom activities, meals, and outdoor play
- Helping manage behaviors in a calm, respectful, and appropriate manner
- Supporting children with social, emotional, developmental, or behavioral needs
- Following behavior plans, classroom procedures, and center policies
- Communicating concerns or progress with the director and classroom teachers
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and positive classroom environment
- Helping children learn appropriate behaviors, social skills, and independence
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have experience working with children with all abilities
- Experience with children who have behavioral challenges is strongly preferred
- Must be patient, compassionate, dependable, and professional
- Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Must be able to stay calm in challenging situations
- Childcare experience preferred
- Must meet all childcare/background screening requirements
- Must have completed or be willing to complete the required DCF 40-hour childcare training
