Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Strategic Procurement Director has full accountability for defining, governing, and delivering the procurement strategy for the Business Unit(s). The role ensures global cost competitiveness, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and long‑term value creation, in close partnership with BU leadership, operations, finance, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the global procurement strategy aligned with Business Unit, Business Area, and Group objectives
- Establish procurement governance, standards, and decision frameworks across all sites and categories
- Define multi‑year procurement roadmaps covering cost, resilience, sustainability, and capability building
- Accountable for delivery of annual and mid‑term cost and value targets
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) and working capital optimization across key categories
- Capture cross‑site, cross‑category and cross‑BU/BA synergies where applicable
- Define and manage the strategic supplier portfolio, including innovation, supply continuity, and risk exposure
- Lead Executive-level supplier negotiations and Supplier Business Reviews
- Own procurement‑led risk management, including critical materials and market volatility
- Lead and develop a global procurement organization (direct and matrix)
- Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and capability development plans
- Act as the senior procurement representative in BU and cross‑functional leadership forums
- Ensure procurement compliance with legal, regulatory, and sustainability requirements
- Oversee commercial and contractual governance
- Sponsor procurement analytics, ERP governance, and data‑driven decision making (SAP/ERP)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Senior procurement leadership experience in a complex, global manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and sustained value delivery
- Strong commercial and contractual competence
- Experienced leader in matrix organizations with international scope
- Background in polymers, chemicals, textiles, or engineered materials is a plus
Successful candidate will have strengths in the following:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Deep understanding of global textile and chemical supply markets, sourcing methodologies, and risk management
- SAP certification in relevant modules a strong plus
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems integration and data governance.
- Effective & efficient technical and strategic problem solving, and organizational skills required.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.

Travel Requirements
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction with multiple global facilities
- Requires splitting time and traveling between sites in Rutherfordton NC, Forest City NC, Monson, MA and Nottingham, UK. Domestic travel will be 20%. International travel will be 10%.
