Seasonal Watering Crew Lead

Trees Forever is seeking a Seasonal Laborer Crew Lead to support urban tree planting efforts in the Des Moines area. This position focuses on the care of city-owned trees located within public rights-of-way. Responsibilities include leading crews of 6–8 teen workers to water trees, as well as monitoring and tracking tree health and maintenance needs.

Compensation & Schedule

• $20.00 per hour
• Part-time, June – August | Monday-Wednesday, 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM; Thursdays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of equipment including trucks, trailers, and electric pumps.
• Track data of work performed and future work needed.
• Assist with post-planting tree care by driving and leading watering crews.
• Comply with safety rules, OSHA and the use of safety equipment.
• Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be at least 19 years old with three years of licensed driving experience.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience driving larger trucks or truck‑and‑trailer combinations preferred.

Working Conditions

• Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, squatting, climbing, and using hand/power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform repetitive lifting.
• Ability to walk long distances and work long hours outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
• Schedule may vary depending on weather conditions.
