SUMMARY
The Y*_outh Programming Manager *_position reports directly to the General Manager, West Bloomfield & Rochester and is responsible for understanding all aspects of the park’s functions to fulfill the park, team building, and youth programming day-to-day activities at all TreeRunner Parks. The purpose of the position is to assist with the planning, organization, supervision, and implementation of a daily activity schedule for youth participants while creating a positive, supportive, creative, and safe learning environment during programming. In non-Youth Program seasons, this role will support in weekday groups, and during general admission hours.
The Director works sporadic hours from September to December and between 5-20 hours a week from January through June to administer the program, which includes recruiting and hiring staff and group leaders, corresponding with staff, parents, and climbers, filing reports, and working with their supervisor(s). The Director is required to be on-site in the summer, from the start of staff training (late May) through the end of staff clean-up and closure (late August).
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of previous experience and/or training that includes supervision in a camp-like environment; or any equivalent combination of education and specialized training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position

- CPR and First Aid certification is required before the first day of youth programming; TreeRunner will offer this training

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - YOUTH PROGRAMMING
- Makes sure each guest experience is return-worthy
- Market, promote, and sell youth programs within the parks and the community to increase participation.
- Act as the face of the program, interacting daily with participants and families. Communicate regularly with staff and bi-weekly with parents during summer programs.
- Grows the Fall/Spring youth programming
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of youth programming, including park operations and extracurricular activities.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, support, and evaluate staff. Orient, monitor, and lead children and staff in program operations, including activity setup and cleanup.
- Plan and execute special events to increase program value and attendance in fee-based activities.
- Ensure staff and participants adhere to safety policies and procedures. Address and document conduct issues, accidents, or emergencies, and communicate incidents to parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, behavioral incidents, medical issues, and parental communication. Submit records to the Center Supervisor and participate in parent conferences as needed.
- Follow procedures for reporting and handling medical, safety, and weather emergencies, as outlined in training materials.
- Learn and accommodate special needs, allergies, and other important information for each participant.
- Take an active role in daily operations, regularly interacting with participants, parents, and staff to deliver a high-quality experience.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists other business staff with cross-over tasks.
- Conducts park tours and advocates for TreeRunner.
- Completes administrative tasks as needed.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
WORK CONDITIONS
Environment
- Works on-site when parks are open at all times
- Available on weekends and holidays in the peak season
- This position may require work weeks above and beyond a typical 40-hour week from Memorial Day to Labor Day, along with full weekend availability during this period
- No remote/hybrid opportunities while parks are open
- This job operates both indoors with moderate temperatures and moderate noise in the immediate area, as well as outdoors, exposed to weather, including hot or cold temperatures.
Physical Demands
- Time spent on the telephone communicating with customers is frequent.
- This is moderately a sedentary role and light to moderate lifting is required.
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
- Physical demands of position include standing and walking.
