What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Group Leader or Site Coordinator position at Treehouse - A First Step Learning Center, Inc.?
Treehouse - A First Step Learning Center in East Longmeadow has an immediate need for an After School Teacher.
Must be available daily 2:45-4:45pm minimum; but we would could extended the hours to 12:45-4:45 if the candidate desired more hours.
We follow a modified school year calendar - we are closed for school vacation weeks February, April, and December. Summer work (any amount of hours) is available if desired but is not required.
Seeking a Teacher with experience with school age children, preparing and delivering classroom activities, communicating with staff and parents, ensuring that the classroom space is a safe, welcoming, and engaging place for children to learn and grow. To be a successful teacher you should be creative, energetic, and able to encourage self-expression. We are looking for someone who loves teaching and is able to offer a balance of structured activities along with having fun both indoors and out - we especially embrace the Outdoor Classroom! The teacher must be attentive to children's social / emotional needs and development. Top candidates will have evidence of a passion for working with children, a strong belief in the value of play, and a commitment for meeting children where they are at.
Maximum classroom size 20 with a minimum of 3 educators.
Minimum qualifications for this position:
- minimum of 1 years of classroom or similar setting experience or education with children age 5-12
- Priority given to those with EEC certification; or we can help candidates who are eligible for certification through theDepartment of Early Education and Care Massachusetts. Priority given to candidates with degrees in Education.
- calm, patient, and loving personality - must have the ability to remain calm with children even in their most challenging moments.
- ability to work under supervision of Director/Assistant Director or a classroom Lead Teacher
- ability to implement curriculum, activities, and routines including circle time, structured lessons/activities, snack and meal times, light cleaning.
- able to commit to employment for a minimum of a year or longer to provide stable environment for children enrolled in care
- EEC Essentials Training Certificate or a candidate must be willing to complete this free short online training as required by The Department of Early Education and Care
- current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- physically able to lift 50 pounds
- a Massachusetts background check including fingerprinting is required prior to beginning employment, as well as medical clearance from a physician
