Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire | Onsite

About The Opportunity:
Tree Top Staffing is partnering with an established, family-owned precision mold manufacturer to hire an experienced CNC ID/OD Grinder. Our client specializes in medium- to high-cavity injection molds, with teamwork, craftsmanship, and pride in quality at the foundation of its operation.
This is a critical, hands-on role finishing the components that directly determine how molds fit, function, and perform. You will take ownership of two Studer CNC grinders and work closely with toolmakers and engineers to deliver exceptional accuracy, surface finish, and consistency.
We are seeking someone with directly relevant cylindrical grinding experience who can independently set up and operate equipment, interpret complex specifications, and produce precision components with minimal technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate two Studer FavoritCNC grinders, one dedicated to OD grinding and one capable of both ID and OD grinding, managing both machines concurrently as production requires.
- Use Fanuc Series 0i-TD controls and conversational programming to perform precision grinding operations.
- Grind injection-mold stack components, including cores, cavities, stripper rings, and shutoffs.
- Work primarily with hardened tool steels ranging from 50–62 HRC, along with stainless steels, alloys, and chrome-plated surfaces as required.
- Maintain tolerances typically within ±0.0002 inch, sometimes tighter, while meeting demanding concentricity and surface-finish requirements.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Select appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, and setups for the material and application.
- Inspect components using indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Identify and resolve grinding issues to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistent quality.
- Collaborate with toolmakers and engineers to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and an organized work area.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on ID/OD grinding experience preferred; candidates with fewer years and demonstrated proficiency in precision CNC cylindrical grinding will also be considered.
- Proven ability to independently set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding equipment.
- Experience producing precision components to ±0.0002-inch tolerances or tighter.
- Strong knowledge of grinding machines, wheels, and setups for various materials.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute work from complex blueprints and GD&T requirements.
- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and verification of dimensions, concentricity, and surface finish.
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented approach with clear communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Experience:
- Studer FavoritCNC grinders with Fanuc controls and conversational programming.
- Injection-mold tooling or similarly demanding precision-machining applications.
- Grinding hardened tool steels, mold shutoffs, and chrome-plated components.
- Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Technical training or drafting certification.
Compensation And Benefits:
- Competitive base pay of $36–$40 per hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
- Semiannual bonus program with a tenure-based percentage that increases over time, up to 10% of eligible earnings.
- 100% company-paid health insurance.
- Company contributions to a Health Savings Account.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Paid time off.
- Life insurance.
- Sign-on bonus; amount and terms discussed during the hiring process.
Benefit eligibility, coverage details, and bonus terms will be reviewed during the hiring process.
What Sets This Opportunity Apart:
- Family-owned company with a people-first culture.
- Modern facility and precision manufacturing equipment.
- Hands-on technical ownership of an essential grinding function.
