Data Governance Lead
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Governance professional to lead taxonomy management, metadata governance, cross-functional alignment, and data quality initiatives across our marketing data ecosystem. This role ensures that marketing, analytics, and operations teams work with consistent, compliant, and high-quality data to drive accurate reporting and business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Taxonomy & Metadata Governance
- Own and govern the marketing taxonomy, metadata standards, and data definitions across all channels.
- Monitor ongoing changes in taxonomy and ensure alignment across platforms and reporting systems.
- Establish and maintain a consistent metadata framework to eliminate reporting discrepancies.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the governance bridge between Marketing, Analytics, Operations, Data Science, Media, and Execution teams.
- Translate business requirements into structured data governance policies and documentation.
- Ensure cross-team alignment on taxonomy usage, data definitions, and campaign tagging standards.
3. Data Quality Management
- Implement processes to maintain clean, complete, and accurate customer and campaign data.
- Establish QA checks, validation rules, and monitoring dashboards to reduce data inconsistencies.
- Partner with operational teams to resolve data issues and prevent recurrence through governance controls.
4. Compliance, Risk & Audit Alignment
- Work closely with Audit and Risk teams to evaluate gaps between the current data environment and recommended governance standards.
- Support risk mitigation plans, control implementation, and compliance-related data requirements.
- Ensure governance adherence to internal policies and regulatory obligations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, or Metadata Management, preferably within a marketing or digital ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of taxonomy frameworks, data dictionaries, lineage, and governance workflows.
- Knowledge of marketing operations, campaign tagging, and analytics platforms (Google/Adobe/etc.).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating with audit or compliance teams is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DCAM, DAMA)
- Experience with metadata management tools, governance platforms, or MDM solutions
- Exposure to digital marketing technologies and customer data platforms
