TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading provider of power generation and energy solutions to identify an Application Engineer based in Dallas, TX. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial operations, supporting the design, configuration, and delivery of complex power systems for industrial, commercial, and utility clients.
Summary
The Application Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert, supporting sales and project teams by developing tailored power generation solutions. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy customer interaction, system design, and translating technical requirements into executable solutions within the energy and power generation space.
Responsibilities
- Develop and configure power generation system solutions (diesel/gas generators, switchgear, controls, and balance of plant)
- Partner with sales teams to support RFQs, proposals, and technical presentations
- Interpret customer specifications, load requirements, and site conditions to recommend optimal system designs
- Create technical documentation including submittals, single-line diagrams, and equipment layouts
- Support project handoff to engineering and operations teams, ensuring design accuracy and feasibility
- Provide technical guidance during project execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed
- Interface directly with customers, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment on project scope
- Stay current on industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies within power generation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 3–8 years of experience in power generation, energy systems, or industrial equipment applications
- Strong understanding of generators, paralleling switchgear, ATS systems, and power distribution
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and technical specifications
- Experience supporting pre-sales engineering or applications engineering functions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with backup power, prime power, or microgrid systems
- Familiarity with industry standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA 110)
- Exposure to controls systems and PLC integration
- Experience with sizing software or load analysis tools
- Background supporting data centers, healthcare, utilities, or industrial facilities
