| *Position until March 2026 with possibility of becoming permanent* Plans, coordinates, and conducts efforts necessary to perform a variety of tasks associated with testing power generation systems, to include operating and maintaining equipment. Devises approaches to accomplish work, resolve operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable. Duties and Responsibilities * Works with engineers/testing personnel to set up tests that properly adhere to correct test operating procedures and military standards * Applies conventional engineering practices to analyze schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists. Examples of designs include detailed circuit diagrams, hardware fittings or test equipment * Conducts specific test or experimental procedures requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of electrical power generation and distribution test procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records data * Operates and transfers information from the data acquisition equipment in support of reliability and performance testing of electrical power generation and distribution equipment * Coordinates efforts necessary to ensure testing is accomplished in accordance with appropriate/approved test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations to achieve test objectives * Installs and operates sensitive data collection instrumentation, mobile power generation system devices, and maintains equipment necessary to collect, process, store or obtain test related data in accordance with appropriate test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations * Performs one or a combination of typical duties, such as proper power up/shut down of load bank operational procedures, set up of voltage and frequency configurations and fault resets, calculations of percentage loads at 25/50/75/100%, connecting 3 phase and single-phase power, and set up and conduct testing for 120/208 V and 416 V voltage ratings * Establishes circuit interrupter, maximum power, fuel consumption, and other specialized tests and processes the data in accordance with well-defined methods and designated formulas * Analyzes and presents various test data in accordance with established methods * Effectively operates power generation system computers, software, and other related technology * Identifies, documents, and communicates test related and/or abnormal conditions in an appropriate format and timely manner * Develops or reviews designs of test fixtures and/or components using sound technical principles. * Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions * Prepares all or portions of Job Hazard Analyses, Risk Assessments, Detailed Test Plans, and Final Reports for testing |
