Purpose and function of job:
The Cook works under the supervision of the Food and Beverage Manager. The Cook is responsible for grilling, cooking, and frying all menu items for concession and picnic areas. Always ensures highest guest satisfaction while embodying The Pit Spitters Way and representing the image of the Traverse City Pit Spitters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of this job classification:
- Follow daily menu to prepare food for all concession areas.
- Able to follow health department guidelines and cook to correct temperatures.
- Keep food areas cleaned and sanitized as you use them.
- Assists in all opening and closing duties in concession areas.
- During events, cooks, grills, and fries based on presale and party size.
- Resolve customer satisfaction issues as necessary and log complaints/resolutions as necessary.
- Communicate to supervisor on what food needs to be cooked and how much.
- Must be knowledgeable of concessions safety procedures.
- Responsible for helping to fill out the end of shift inventory request sheets
- Follows all health code standards.
- Night or weekend hours are required due to game day and facility event activity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and skills requirements:
Type of prior related experience:
- Cooking background is preferred.
Special skills/abilities/competencies required:
- Strong presentation of customer service skills
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours and remain flexible. Holidays and weekends as needed.
- Ability to stand up for 3 hours at a time.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions.
Education and certification requirements:
Education level:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or relative coursework in business, management, hospitality, food and beverage or equivalent experience is preferred
Certifications or special qualifications needed:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
