Role Description The Senior Mechanical Designer is a full-time, on-site role. This role is responsible for designing mechanical components and systems for industrial automation equipment, including assemblies, mechanisms, and machine layouts. Day-to-day tasks include creating detailed technical drawings and CAD models, developing design concepts, performing engineering calculations, and collaborating with project engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and customer requirements. The Senior Mechanical Designer reviews and updates documentation, supports prototype builds, participates in design reviews, and provides guidance to junior designers. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, supports R&D activities, and assists in resolving design issues during manufacturing and installation.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Technical Drawing and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing accurate models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Demonstrated experience in Machine Design, including mechanisms, assemblies, and industrial automation equipment.
- Solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles, including materials, mechanics, and machine elements.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including testing concepts, improving existing designs, and supporting innovation initiatives.
- Experience designing equipment for industrial automation or manufacturing environments; exposure to robotics or automated assembly systems is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering standards and customer specifications, with attention to safety and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with common CAD platforms (SolidWorks and AutoCAD) is required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field.
