Position Summary
The Director of Educational Technology is responsible for providing leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and supporting technology systems and initiatives across the district. This role bridges instructional needs with IT infrastructure to enhance student learning, empower educators, and improve organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Leadership
Develop and execute a district-wide educational technology strategy aligned with instructional goals and equity initiatives.
Collaborate with district and school leaders to identify and implement emerging technologies.
Lead the development of technology policies, including digital citizenship, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
Instructional Technology Integration
Support teachers and administrators in integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.
Oversee professional development programs for educators on digital tools, blended learning, and instructional best practices.
Evaluate the effectiveness of digital learning tools and instructional platforms.
Infrastructure & Operations
Partner with IT staff to ensure robust, secure, and equitable access to technology and internet connectivity across all schools.
Supervise technology staff, including instructional technology coaches and system administrators.
Oversee procurement, budgeting, and lifecycle management of hardware, software, and digital resources.
Knowledge in management of Microsoft Active Directory and Google Workspace environments
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay current on trends in educational technology, pedagogy, and learning environments.
Lead pilot programs and scalable innovation projects that personalize learning and improve outcomes.
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration on data analytics and systems integration.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 5 years of experience in K–12 education
Demonstrated success in leading large-scale technology initiatives
Strong understanding of curriculum design, pedagogy, and technology integration
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent job-related experience combined with Certified education Technology Officer (CeCTO) and Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certifications.
Experience managing teams and budgets in an educational setting
Knowledge of FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and other relevant data privacy laws
Background in equity-focused technology planning and implementation
