Position Summary
The Special Education Route Driver is responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of students with special needs to and from school and approved activities. This position may involve operating a school bus, van, or car, and requires attentiveness, patience, and professionalism in meeting the unique needs of each student.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Safely operate a district vehicle (bus, van, or car) along an assigned route and schedule.

Assist students with boarding, securing seat belts, harnesses, or safety equipment as needed.

Provide courteous, supportive, and patient interaction with students, families, and school staff.

Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, maintaining awareness of individual needs.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle.

Maintain accurate records (route logs, incident reports, mileage, etc.) as required.

Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding delays, incidents, or concerns.

Keep vehicle clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Attend required training on safety procedures, student needs, and emergency response.
