Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE

Planning and assigning all field trip, UIL, and Fine Art trip requests; resolving district transportation issues concerning extracurricular trips; maintaining and operating a variety of computer software programs in support of the district’s student transportation system; communicating effectively with dispatch, routing personnel, and sponsors.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of field trips, utilizing Routefinder, Tripfinder, and other informational resources to make assignments.

2. Work with campus and departmental staff to maintain the performance management procedures regarding field trip efficiency and operations.

3. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve all field trip issues and incidents, responding to complaints and communicating safety concerns to supervisors as needed.

4. Assist in the development, evaluation, training, and enforcement of field trip procedures. 5. Assist in preparing in-service and staff training.

6. Prepare and submit field trip billing reports.

7. Prepare and provide field trip paperwork and vehicle keys for drivers.

8. Substitute for drivers and office staff as needed.

9. Provide assistance to campuses/departments as requested.

10. Work collaboratively to improve programs

11. Participate in professional development that increases effectiveness and improves District performance.

12. Interact positively with employees and the community to provide needed information and to promote the District in a favorable manner.

13. Participate in team-building activities and the decision-making process as appropriate. 14. Communicate and collaborate with campus/department staff to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.

15. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.

16. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualification Requirements

1. High School Diploma

2. Valid Class "B" Commercial Driver’s License with passenger "P" and School Bus "S" endorsement.

3. Texas School Bus Certification. Clerk and record-keeping background

4. Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD’s vehicle safety and use program

5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred

6. Knowledge of routing software preferred

7. Fingerprint Clearance, DOT, Background Clearance

8. Positive Attitude and support for the Department

9. T.E.A. certified bus driver

10. TAPT Certification preferred

 

Special knowledge skills:

1. Computer literate

2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred

3. Knowledge of routing software preferred

4. Fingerprint Clearance, DOT, Background Clearance

5. Positive Attitude and support for the Department

6. Effective interpersonal skills

 

Minimum Experience

1. Two years’ experience operating a school bus and/or other white fleets

2. Two years’ experience in participating in route planning

3. Experience in dispatching

4. Experience in computerized school bus routing and problem-solving is preferred

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Additional Responsibilities

1. Assist other Routers if needed.

2. Provide Transportation if drivers are needed

3. Assist Managers and Dispatch if needed
