Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and either currently hold or be eligible to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements.

• Potential employment opportunities as a substitute bus aide during the training process

Training Costs and Reimbursement

Trainees are responsible for the initial costs associated with obtaining a temporary permit, CDL testing, and the CDL license. These expenses are approximately $125.00.

Upon successful completion of testing and official employment with Marion City Schools as a bus driver, these expenses will be reimbursed. The only cost not reimbursed is the required background check fee.

Training Agreement

Marion City Schools makes a significant investment in the training and certification of new bus drivers. Therefore, all trainees participating in the district-sponsored CDL training program will be required to sign a Training Reimbursement Agreement. Employees who receive district-sponsored training must remain employed as a bus driver with Marion City Schools for a minimum of two (2) years following completion of training. Employees who voluntarily leave the district before fulfilling the two-year commitment may be required to reimburse the district for all training-related costs incurred on their behalf in accordance with the terms of the signed agreement.
