What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER position at Transportation?
Washington Community Schools is looking for Substitute Bus Drivers.
Substitute bus drivers are a vital part of the department and are needed on a regular basis to cover AM & PM bus routes when regular route driver absences occur. Sub drivers cover routes for our activity trip drivers and often are scheduled well in advance to know when driving will occur. Sub drivers also cover routes when regular route drivers are sick or other needs for time off occur.
Applicants must have or be willing to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsements. Applicants must also have a valid and current Driver Authorization from the Iowa Department of Education, and must be current on their annual training. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening, a child and dependent adult abuse background checks, a driving history check, and must have a currently valid DOT physical. Once employed, the driver would be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Drivers would qualify to drive at both Washington and WACO Community School Districts as both districts share transportation. Driving at both districts is not required, but would give a sub driver more opportunities to drive if they are willing to drive for both districts.
New substitute drivers are paid for training and may qualify for a one time sign-on bonus.
Bus routes are fluid and are subject to change at any time as deemed necessary by the district administration.
