The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, has a full-time vacancy for an Asset Engineer.
Summary:
To perform professional engineering supervision of the Bureau of Bridge Maintenanceās asset management program, to include development, tracking and reporting. Coordinates with internal and external groups relative to the asset management goals of the Department.Ā
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.Ā
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Ā Possession of a Master of Science degree from a recognized college or university with a major concentration in civil engineering.
Experience: Four years' post baccalaureate experience in the practice of civil engineering.
OR
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in civil engineering.
Experience: Six years' post baccalaureate experience in the practice of civil engineering.
OR
Education: Possession of an Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical school with a major study in civil technology.
Experience: Six years' experience in the practice of civil engineering at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two additional years' experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.Ā
License/Certification:Ā
1.Ā Licensed Professional Engineer - Licensure designation must be in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo Technical or Structural Engineering
2.Ā Valid driver's license or access to transportation
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The applicant's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.

Responsibilities:
Develops and documents Bridge Maintenance programs to follow the Departmentās guidelines and procedures developed by the Asset Management Performance, Strategy (AMPS) Section.
Oversees the diverse job functions of tracking, reporting, and communicating all aspects of Bridge Maintenance programs and accomplishments to Bureau management, the Bridge Management Committee, the Executive Office, the AMPS Section and other vested groups.
Performs field reconnaissance for Bridge Maintenance assets to assessĀ condition and other parameters of all assets. Evaluates condition of existing structures and performs structural calculations to provide data for determining maintenance, rehabilitation of replacement needs. Assets include, but are not limited to, fixed bridges, movable bridges, Bureau owned equipment, consumable inventory, and buildings.
Obtains bridge asset condition data and proposed work plans from other Bureaus. Assembles, analyzes, and organizes the data to provide the basis for a prioritized, coordinated Bridge Maintenance work plan. Updates the final work plan on an ongoing basis to assure coordination with other Department work.
Develops, manages, and reports on Bridge Maintenance work accomplishments and associated costs. Tracks, maintains, and reports on Bureau performance measures.
Analyzes data and creates reports that evaluate the cost effectiveness of past, current and proposed maintenance, repair, and replacement efforts.
Plans, analyzes, and evaluates computer programs in support of the Bridge Maintenance Asset Management program.
Coordinates training with employees to ensure appropriate recording of the Bureauās work accomplishments. Develops, implements, and manages Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs to ensure the accuracy of data that is input into the Bridge Asset Management programs.
Oversees the Bureauās consumable materials inventory and warehouse operations. Manages, recommends, and implements computerized database systems for efficient purchase and tracking of consumable inventories.
Studies, recommends, and presents solutions to challenges faced in development of the asset management and inventory management programs.
Provides supervision of Warehouse Facility employees including identifying and recommending training needs, recommending leave, and conducting performance evaluations.
Performs work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
