Job Summary
The Vehicle/Equipment Mechanic is ensures vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition by determining needed repairs and/or replacements on district vehicles; performing required repairs and preventive maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meet district, state and federal requirements.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Job-related experience within specialized field required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in an examination process. Exam Components consist of a Multiple choice test (weight: 30%), a Performance test (weight: 35%) and a technical interview (weight: 35%).
The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional-dual certification: candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance.
The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
