Purpose Statement:
The job of Transportation Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of providing a wide variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex administrative and operations duties for assigned the Transportation Department; planning, organizing, and overseeing the operations and functions of the assigned office; and providing information and assistance to students, faculty, staff, and/or the general public.
This job reports to Transportation Director
Essential Functions
- Phone and Two way Radio communications with drivers
- Maintain and and/or supervise the Daily Rollout process/procedure, and the daily logs
- Supervise and/or assist in the managing, tracking, and assignment process/procedure of buses
- Supervise and/or assist in maintaining the Operations Board on a daily basis
- Supervise and/or assist in managing the process/procedure for Field Trip Assignment
- Prepare daily, the PM Rollout log for the next day’s operation
- Lead and/or assists in the coordination of a variety of programs and/or activities (e.g. communications, appointments, meetings, work activities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services in conformance with established guidelines.
- Supervise and/or assist in routing and planning of bus routes
- Coordinate transportation and maintain supplies for ESS students
- Coordinate all additional mid-day driver tasks and payroll for mid-day transfers
Job Reponsibilities
- Compiles data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of complying with financial, legal and/or administrative requirements of assigned area.
- Informs staff and administration regarding a variety of procedures and program requirements for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with financial, legal and administrative requirements.
- Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (confidential and non-confidential) (e.g. calendars, administrative and financial records, program records, resource materials, reports, budget data, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the effective and accurate processing of assigned tasks and providing up-to-date reference and audit trail.
- Monitors assigned activities and/or programs (e.g. budgets, office activities, inventory, expenses, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with administrative, financial and legal requirements.
- Performs a variety of record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, production of materials, filing, compiling lists, etc.) for the purpose of supporting assigned Administrator and/or department.
- Prepares materials and documents in both written and electronic formats (e.g. reports, forms, budgets, requisitions, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Responds to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties (e.g. division staff, other school systems, outside agencies, general public, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.
- Supports assigned administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with administrative functions.
- Trains personnel on program specific topics for the purpose of providing information regarding program activities and/or requirements.
- Assist with onsite or roadside driver assistance with discipline and/or wrecks in the absence of other personnel
- Discipline referral entries into IC campus and communicate with the schools about student discipline
- Coordinate the viewing and sharing of bus videos for discipline or incident recording
- Coordinate Training for school admin, coaches, and educators for field trip requisition system.
- Assist with Inclement Weather decisions and checking road conditions any day or any hour that is necessary to ensure safe student travel.
- Coordinate registration and travel for personnel training and workshops
Other Functions
- Attends meetings (e.g. trainings, in-service activities, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.) for the purpose of increasing professional knowledge, conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective completion of department and District objectives.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 75% sitting, 10% walking, and 15% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of school bus transportation experience with strong geographical knowledge of Gordon County.
- Must possess and or obtain CDL Class B license with appropriate endorsements within first 90 days of accepting job offer.
