Shop Helper / Trailer Washer – CDL or Yard Jockey Experience Preferred

Schedule: Full Time | Sunday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

About the Role:
Transport Refrigeration Services, Inc. is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Shop Helper to join our team in Shelbyville, TN. This hands-on position focuses primarily on washing trailers (interior & exterior) and requires yard jockey or Class A CDL driving experience to move semi-trailers safely throughout our yard. If you enjoy working independently, staying active, and being an essential part of daily operations, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a yard truck to move and back up semi-trailers
- Perform interior and exterior trailer washes
- Maintain cleanliness in the shop, wash bay, and fuel island
- Fuel equipment and monitor fuel bay activity
- Operate forklifts, yard trucks, and other shop equipment
- Support general maintenance and cleanliness of the facility
- Adhere to all company and customer safety policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For:
- Yard jockey experience or Class A CDL (preferred for trailer moving)
- Comfortable working outdoors and in a physical environment
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Strong work ethic, team-oriented, and self-motivated
- Must be flexible with scheduling and available for overtime as needed
- Forklift certification and yard truck training a plus (training available if needed)
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
- 3 years of experience doing yard jockey or Class A CDL driving preferred
- Willingness to complete 40-hour yard truck training and forklift certification
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pass background check & drug screen
