This is a direct hire, full time, on-site position based in Sharon Hill, PA.
Position Overview:
SGL is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Air & Ocean Export Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in both air and ocean export operations within a freight forwarding environment, with a solid understanding of international logistics, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant movement of freight and related documentation while delivering high-quality customer service across Air and Ocean Export functions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end air export and ocean export operations including pickup, inland transportation, booking, and delivery coordination
- Coordinate with airlines, steamship lines, carriers, trucking companies, and overseas agents
- Prepare and process Air Waybills, Bills of Lading, AES filings, export declarations, invoices, and certificates of origin
- Ensure compliance with TSA, IATA, IMDG, FMC, TAPA, ISO, Customs, and export/import regulations
- Track and trace shipments and provide proactive status updates to customers and internal teams
- Handle shipment troubleshooting and escalate issues when necessary
- Respond to rate requests, quotations, and customer inquiries in a timely manner
- Coordinate shipment routing, consolidation, and cost-effective transport solutions
- Maintain strong customer service and professional communication with all stakeholders
- Ensure accurate and timely distribution of shipment documentation
- Support bonded cargo, ITs, and permits to transfer
- Assist with SOP review, process improvements, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Provide backup support for alternate accounts as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- 2 years Air Export experience (required)
- 2 years Ocean Export / Freight Forwarding experience (required)
- IATA DG Certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of international logistics and export compliance
- Experience with bonded cargo preferred
- Strong understanding of export/import regulations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must pass TSA eligibility screening
