Development & Fundraising Coordinator (Part-Time, Contract)

Trans Up Front Illinois is a trans-led organization dedicated to increasing access, equity, and visibility for trans and gender-expansive people across the state. We build community power through advocacy, public education, direct support, and celebration of trans joy. As we grow, we are expanding our development efforts to strengthen sustainability and impact.
The Development & Fundraising Coordinator (Contract) will support a broad range of fundraising and development activities, including donor engagement, corporate and major donor cultivation, and other strategic funding partnerships. This part-time, remote contractor role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about supporting trans-led and grassroots work. While Chicagoland-based applicants are preferred for occasional in-person events, candidates anywhere in Illinois are encouraged to apply. - Support planning and implementation of annual fundraising strategies, including campaigns, monthly giving, and other revenue-generating initiatives.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners, including corporate, major donors, and other philanthropic partners.
- Conduct donor research and prospect identification to expand funding networks.
- Track contributions, maintain accurate donor records in the CRM, and ensure timely acknowledgments and stewardship.
- Proactively generate new donors and secure corporate sponsorships and other strategic funding partnerships.
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, including annual celebrations, community gatherings, and peer-to-peer campaigns.
- Assist with coordinating logistics, sponsor engagement, and event materials.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop campaign messaging and storytelling for donor engagement.
- Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission timelines.
- Collect program data, impact stories, and supporting documentation for grants and partnership proposals.
- Support relationship-building with foundations and other funding partners.
- Maintain organized grant files, templates, and partnership records.
- Provide general development support to the Executive Director, including scheduling, follow-ups, and materials preparation.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather metrics, stories, and media for fundraising purposes.
- Support implementation of equitable, community-centered development practices aligned with organizational values.
- Commitment to trans liberation, equity, and community wellness.
- 3–5 years of professional experience OR equivalent volunteer experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, nonprofit operations, corporate partnerships, or related fields.
- Proven track record of generating new donors and securing corporate sponsorships.
- Experience working with grassroots or community-based organizations strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable using CRM or donor management tools (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, fast-paced team.
- Commitment to ethical fundraising, donor stewardship, and confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Hours: 10–20 hours per week, flexible schedule. (This position has the ability to gain more hours and benefits as the organization grows.)
- Compensation: $22 per hour.

- Contractor Status: 1099 independent contractor (no employee benefits included).
