What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Nurse position at Tranquillity Camp?
Seeking Fully licensed Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State valid as of June 22nd
Children’s sleep-away camp. 2 1/2 hours north of NYC. June 22- Aug 21. Room (private room) & Board, Excellent salary. Free tuition for your children. A great way to spend your summer.
Expectation is to live in camp for 8 weeks of the summer. Approximate dates - to June 22-August 21.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Dispense and monitor medication to campers and staff.
- Assess, respond to and provide first-aid and emergency care as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of medical information and medication.
- Document all treatment and procedures.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological comfort to campers and staff.
- Provide overnight care to any ill campers until return to their bunk is permissible
- Provide referral to hospital, pediatrician, urgent care
- Comfort with technology for use of tele-medicine system and access to electronic camper and staff health forms.
- Maintain a safe and clean infirmary environment.
- Supervise and work cooperatively with Assistant Nurse
- Strictly adhere to New York State Department of Health Regulations and Guidelines.
- Fully comply with Tranquillity Camp Infirmary Protocol Guidelines – to be provided for review and referral
- Cooperate with Camp Wellness Coordinator for parent contact and external medical care visits
- Unpack and set-up Infirmary supplies pre-camp and close/pack up all medications and materials at season end.
- Assist with ordering and maintaining all supplies and items needed to treat camper and staff
Qualifications:
· Fully licensed Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State valid as of camp start date noted above
· B.S. in nursing preferred, minimum AA degree required
· Additional CPR and RTE and/or First Aid certification as per NYS Department of Health requirements – can assist with obtaining this.
· Experience working with children ages 7-15
· At least 1 year of practical nursing experience, preferably with pediatrics
· Strong assessment skills and the ability to work in a structured residential setting
· Available for the duration of the dates above.
· Patient, compassionate and caring nature
· Comfortable with technology and able to utilize a computer and/or tablet
