Construction Estimator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join a growing NYC-based construction firm. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of projects, including public and private sector work. Experience with School Construction Authority (SCA) projects is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
• Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals and budgets
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients during preconstruction
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
• Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client walkthroughs as needed
• Ensure compliance with NYC building codes and public agency requirements (including SCA, if applicable)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 3 years of experience as a construction estimator in NYC
• Experience with public agency work (SCA, NYCHA, DEP, etc.) strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing in the NYC market
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
